September 17, 2026 by Red Clay Creative
The Basics
Your website recorded 9,575 Google search clicks in August, down 9.64% from July. Impressions fell 3.40% and click-through rate declined 6.31%, while average position improved slightly. Local profile activity and tracked AI visibility increased, providing some positive results alongside the search click decline.
Key Metrics
- Impressions: Approximately 497,000, down 3.40% from July.
- Clicks: 9,575, down 9.64%.
- Click-through rate: 1.93%, down 6.31%.
- Average position: 12.9, a 2.04% decrease in the position number, which is a slight improvement.
The Highlights
The Pharmacy page received 30% more impressions but 12% fewer clicks, with a 1.07% click-through rate despite an improved average position. That makes it a candidate for reviewing search relevance and how its result reads, rather than assuming ranking losses. The branded query “whitman walker” was steadier, generating 1,314 clicks, down just 0.23%.
Tracked rankings reached 58, up 5.45%, but the chart shows fewer top-three placements at month-end. We saw this with other client as well and attribute it to a change in Google’s algorithm near the end of the month. The keyword tracker placed “whitman walker health” and “whitman walker patient portal” first, and “whitman walker pharmacy” fourth.
Google Business Profile website clicks rose 2.98% to 380, and interactions increased 1.30% to 1,172, even as profile impressions fell 2.70%. That’s a positive result for local engagement, separate from the Search Console click decline.
Across the monitored AI prompts, visibility rose 1.85% to 91.67%, but citations fell 19% to 141 and sentiment declined to 85%. A Google AI Mode brand-discovery result was visible in first position with zero reported citations, illustrating that appearing in an answer doesn’t necessarily mean your site is cited.
What We Recommend
- Prioritize the pages losing clicks. We recommend reviewing the searches, titles, and descriptions behind those pages, starting with the page that recorded 28,405 impressions and a 1.07% click-through rate. This would help distinguish changes in the searches generating impressions from opportunities to make the result more relevant.
- Investigate the drop in AI citations. We recommend comparing the cited sources across monitored platforms and checking whether your relevant pages answer those questions clearly. That review can guide specific content changes rather than assuming more AI visibility will bring more visits.
Looking ahead to next month, we will put the click-through review first, with AI citation gaps as the second priority. Clicks, click-through rate, and reported citations will be more useful measures of progress than visibility alone.
